Tom represents many closely-held businesses and provides counseling on a wide variety of questions ranging from business acquisitions to estate planning. He lectures on the topics of forms of business organization and business succession planning. Tom served as secretary of Independent Business Association of Wisconsin from 1977-2002. Tom’s expertise in taxation benefits clients in both the for-profit and not-for-profit areas and has been particularly valuable in corporate reorganizations.
Tom’s work in the area of estate planning includes tax planning to minimize estate, gift and generation-skipping taxes; the preparation of estate planning documents; tax planning for charitable gifts; trust and estate administration and the representation of individuals concerning wealth management planning. He counsels individuals who have embarked upon significant family and charitable gifting programs, which include the use of family limited partnerships, charitable trusts and family charitable foundations.
Tom is a member of the Milwaukee Estate Planning Forum and The Professional Institute of Tax Study. Tom has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® in Tax Law.
