Community Involvement

von Briesen attorneys are known in the community as leaders who possess the perseverance and commitment to make a difference.

Community. Embracing the mantra of “do well by doing good” in the communities where we live and work. This is one of von Briesen’s core Values and one we take very seriously. Each year, employees support programs that make an immeasurable impact on local charities and organizations. We serve on numerous nonprofit Boards, we volunteer on Committees, we participate in Community Service Projects, and we financially support one organization every month through our Acts of Kindness.

Board and Committee Involvement:

  • Attorney Andrew Christman serves as President-Elect of the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Equal Justice Fund (WEJF). WEJF supports legal aid organizations that provide free legal help to low-income and vulnerable Wisconsinites.
  • Attorney Steve Szymanski is a Zoological Society Associate Board Member, the nonprofit arm dedicated to supporting the Milwaukee County Zoo through fundraising, education, conservation, and community engagement.
  • Attorney Dave Westrup serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Latino Arts, Inc., a nonprofit organization celebrating 40 years of service in 2026 and dedicated to providing Hispanic cultural arts programming.
  • Attorney John Pinzl draws upon his passion for books, reading, and writing as an avid volunteer and supporter of the Madison Public Library Foundation. He serves as a member of the Library’s Ex Libris Planning and Donor Development Committees. The Foundation raises funds to enhance and expand the city’s library services—bridging the gap between public funding and the innovative programs, resources, and experiences libraries provide to the community.
  • Attorney Tom Moniz is the Founder and Member of the Board of Directors of First We Live Foundation, Inc. First We Live supports and cultivates access to integrated mental health programs and services for those who encounter societal barriers in identifying and attending to their mental health needs, especially youth and those engaged in helping professions. Tom is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area.

Some of the organizations we support with our Acts of Kindness, Community Service Projects or with Board/Committee involvement include:
