The Wisconsin Legislature’s focus on addressing grooming, both in schools and otherwise, is continuing into 2026 with the recent passage of Acts 88 and 89. For the first time, Wisconsin law now defines and criminalizes grooming behavior directed toward children. The new laws set forth special reporting and policy obligations for school administrators, officials, employees, and volunteers, which are significant and immediately applicable to schools across the state. Compliance with these new legal standards is critical to protect students, to maintain the trust of the school community, and to avoid legal liability. Our panelists will update school employees and officials on the obligations arising out of Acts 88 and 89 and provide attendees with practical considerations for implementation. This Town Hall is ideal for school administrators of all levels and elected officials.
