The Wisconsin Legislative Reference Bureau's August Hemp Report
The Wisconsin Legislative Reference Bureau (the "LRB") published a report earlier this month entitled "Regulating Wisconsin's Hemp Industry" (the "Hemp Report"). The LRB is a nonpartisan legislative service agency that provides various services to the Wisconsin Legislature. Among other things, the LRB drafts legislation, writes analyses of legislation, and publishes Wisconsin laws and regulations. The Hemp Report covers a wide range of topics pertaining to hemp such as what hemp is, present and past hemp production, the 2018 Farm Bill, the legal status of CBD, and financial barriers to hemp businesses. While the Hemp Report does not provide an in-depth review of legal and regulatory concerns, it concisely summarizes the status of hemp and hemp-derived products under federal law, and it briefly discusses the future of Wisconsin's hemp laws.
