School Town Hall: Act 10 Upheld - What's Next for Wisconsin Schools
-
Webcast
On July 29, 2026, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals reversed the Dane County Circuit Court’s December 2024 decision, holding that the challenged provisions of Act 10 do not violate the equal protection guarantees of the Wisconsin Constitution. The plaintiffs have since asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to take the case — meaning the questions facing school districts are far from settled. A potentially consequential election is also forthcoming, which may result in the Democratic Party's bicameral control of the Wisconsin Legislature, as well as control of the Governorship.
Join von Briesen School Law attorneys for a short, targeted Town Hall on what schools should be doing right now, and what to watch for as this saga continues. We’ll cover:
- Where Act 10 stands today and what the appellate decision does and does not change
- Practical next steps for handbooks, employee relations, and the potential return of collective bargaining
- What do the recent election results suggest might be forthcoming with regard to legislative changes
- What a Supreme Court review could mean for your school’s planning timeline
